		<description><![CDATA[We've worked a lot with Restaurants and Coffee Shops applying social media to their overall marketing efforts and had some great results.  

We want to share a few of the things we've learned about social media use in this genre.

1.  You need to be active
Consumers are using the internet more and more to find places to go to eat, socialise, host parties, hold a meeting and even just to have quiet time for themselves and their laptop to commune!

If you're not online, you'll miss out on all those people who are visiting your area and need such a place.  Sure you'll get a good local following but what happens when times are tough and you need to attract more and more outsiders or just keep that word of mouth spreading in your locality?

		<description><![CDATA[I have often been questioned about handling social media marketing for clients.  

It seems not everyone thinks that social media marketing agencies have value.  The argument is that everyone should be handling their own social media tools and some even go so far as to say that a Twitter account or a Facebook page should only be handled by it's owner.

I belong to a business group online that had a vehement argument about this topic recently where one social media expert 'attacked' another over this issue.  Social Media Expert A purported that each social media tool should be handled by it's owner and that social media expert B was decrying the whole purpose behind social media tools i.e. to be personally social.
